Many
teeth have been restored with fillings to repair damage from tooth
decay.
However, there
comes a point when sufficient extensive damage from decay had
removed too much structure to support the filling. These teeth
must be restored by a technique that will allow the tooth to
function and meet esthetic demands. This procedure is known as
a crown (cap).
With a crown,
your tooth is strengthened because it is covered with a casting of
porcelain that will surround and splint your tooth.
